Illegal Jacks has reopened in a new location and I waited all of… erm… 36 hours before trying it out!
I do love a bandwagon, so when I heard about all the chat surrounding Edinburgh gelato legend Mary’s Milk Bar, I simply had to pay it a visit. I’ve known about the ice cream shop’s sterling reputation for quite a while, but in the last couple of weeks the situation has pretty much exploded!
Recently I was asked by the lovely folks at Zomato to try the new menu at Ricks as part of a blogger meetup. I love these things as I get to chat to other fabulous Edinburgh bloggers and also get my teeth into some delicious new nosh, which is something I can never turn down!
If you want a cheap and satisfying lunch in the Old Town, look no further than Elephants and Bagels. Granted, they only have bagels on the menu, but they have such a huge variety and a wide range of varieties that there is – quite literally – something for everyone.
The Dominion is a cinema in the heart of Morningside. Tucked away down one of the side streets off the main road, this mighty art deco building sits quite grandly in the otherwise unremarkable street. And it’s pretty special.
I’m quite ashamed to admit that I only tried Café Andaluz fairly recently. Sure, it was always one of those places that came up in conversation and was heartily recommended by everyone I spoke to, but the exterior always looked quite formal when I passed by and eventually I would always be enticed by somewhere else nearby.
It wasn’t until recently when I went on a spontaneous trip with one of my colleagues that I had the chance to smash my preconceptions, and discover that this is in fact a really charming place to enjoy some authentic Spanish tapas.
Mr Bug and I popped into Contini Royal Mile Café last weekend to enjoy a spot of ice cream. The rain was hammering down but we had acquired a couple of vouchers and we were determined to cash them in. Our summer has been a bit of a washout so far but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy summery treats, gad dang it!
