There are lots of fantastic places to stay in Edinburgh, from 5* hotels to quirky little B&Bs. I’ve listed some below, which link out to my carefully selected booking partners.
I earn a little bit of commission on each booking, so please consider using them if you want to keep me in cups of tea, ice cream and museum tickets! 😉
Ibis Edinburgh South Bridge
77 South Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1HN
This is a fairly recent opening, with the building only finished last year. It has been tremendously popular so far, not only is it all new and modern but it is in a fantastic location. You are literally a two minute walk from the Royal Mile, and in the heart of the Old Town. If you stay here, you’ll have lots of cafes and restaurants on your doorstep, and attractions like the National Museum of Scotland and Greyfriars Bobby are just around the corner.
Ibis Styles St Andrew Square
19 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh EH2 1AU
This stylish hotel is located in St Andrew Square in the New Town. It’s another fantastic location – a stone’s throw away from the tram line and right in the centre of Edinburgh’s biggest shopping district. You’ll probably be able to see Harvey Nics from your hotel room window! It’s also right round the corner from George Street, which is jam-packed with buzzing bars, top class restaurants and a thriving nightlife.
Mercure Edinburgh City
Princes Street, Edinburgh EH2 2DG
You really can’t argue with this hotel’s address – Princes Street is the main shopping thoroughfare of Edinburgh and what many people consider to be the absolute centre of the city. This is a great place to stay if you are arriving by train – Waverley Station is just across the road.
Novotel Edinburgh Centre
80 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh EH3 9DE
This hotel is located just south of the city centre, by the Edinburgh College of Art. The city centre is still walking distance away, with Princes Street accessible by foot in no longer than 15-20 minutes. It’s in a fantastic location for the Grassmarket and its fantastic attractions, restaurants and bars which are only a couple of minutes walk away.
