The Omni Centre is one of Edinburgh’s biggest entertainment complexes , with huge range of chain restaurants, bars, a gym and a cinema. It enjoys a fantastic location, right bang in the city centre, and its ample parking makes it a firm favourite with locals on the evenings and weekends.
Things to do at the Omni Centre
The two main draws of the Omni Centre are the cinema on the first floor, and the gym in the basement.
The Vue Cinema is located up the escalators, but if you come in the entrance that’s nearest Leith Street, you can get your tickets on the ground floor. Vue is a big cinema chain with locations all over the UK, so you can be sure to catch all the latest blockbusters here. There are twelve screens, all very spacious, and there’s the usual popcorn and other snacks available in the main foyer.
There’s also a Virgin gym, which is located downstairs and popular with workers in Edinburgh due to its great location. If you visit around clocking-out time, you’re bound to see lots of people with gym bags milling about!
Food and drink at the Omni
If you walk down to the other end of the centre from the Leith Street entrance and follow the corridor down to the right, you’ll find the vast majority of the restaurants that the Omni has to offer.
The centre consists of mostly chain restaurants, so might want to avoid if you fancy something a bit different. However, if you want to enjoy something fairly familiar, you’re not likely to find a greater choice of eats in one place.
The bars and restaurants you can find at the Omni include:
- Lloyds Bar (Wetherspoon’s)
- Frankie and Benny’s
- The Slug and Lettuce
- Filling Station
- Tony Macaroni
As you can see, the restaurant offering at Omni covers a wide range of styles and cuisines, so it’s a perfect place to go if you’re part of a group or not sure what you fancy yet.
The Omni Centre is a great complex, with a huge range of stuff all under one roof. If you fancy an evening out with a meal and a movie, then Omni has you all set.
You can find the Omni Centre (website here) at Greenside Place, EH1 3AA, just beside the large roundabout at Picardy Place. You can get there (or close enough) via any bus that goes through the city centre.
